Being named a finalist in a juried, region-wide awards program is not a small thing, and it is not something Ross Contracting takes lightly. This year, our team was named a finalist by BILD Central Alberta, the association representing home builders, renovators, and trades across the region, for a home renovation in Red Deer we call The Serenity. The recognition came in the Best Renovation Under $200,000 category, a different scope from the extravagant custom builds and whole home transformations we are also known for, and that is exactly what makes it worth talking about.

Great design and real craftsmanship are not reserved for the largest budgets. The Serenity shows that a home renovation in Red Deer can be immaculate, cohesive, and genuinely beautiful within whatever scope a client sets, and BILD Central Alberta's judges noticed. The Serenity was named a finalist, not the category winner, and being shortlisted in a field that competitive is recognition worth talking about in its own right.

What a BILD-Finalist Home Renovation in Red Deer Actually Looks Like

Open concept living room and kitchen in The Serenity, a BILD Central Alberta finalist home renovation in Red Deer

The Serenity reworked the kitchen, dining, and living space into one continuous design story. A waterfall marble island anchors the kitchen, its veining carried down the side of the counter, paired with three black pendant lights that add rhythm without crowding the open sightline into the dining area. Glass-front upper cabinetry finished in a cool grey tone brings texture and depth to the room, with matte black hardware pulling the whole palette together down to the smallest detail. From there, the open-concept living room continues the story with a vaulted ceiling, oversized windows, and a stone-faced fireplace that grounds the space without competing with it. Even the butler pantry, tucked just off the kitchen open shelving and extra dedicated counter space, reflects the same level of intention. Nothing in the home feels like an isolated upgrade. It reads as one considered design from room to room, which is precisely the kind of cohesion awards juries are trained to notice.

Craftsmanship Doesn't Change With the Category

Ross Contracting is known for extravagant custom builds and large-scale renovations in Red Deer. The Best Renovation Under $200,000 category is a different scope entirely, set by the awards program rather than by how we typically work. What The Serenity proves is that the standard does not shift with the size of the project. The same waterfall stone, the same attention to lighting and hardware, the same cohesive flow from room to room, all of it shows up whether a client's vision is expansive or intentionally scoped. This is not the first time BILD Central Alberta has recognized our team, and in past years that recognition has included both finalist placements and category wins. For The Serenity, the recognition is as a finalist. Out of the many entries judges reviewed in the Best Renovation Under $200,000 category, ours was chosen among the top submissions without taking home the win itself, and that distinction is one we're proud of all the same.

Why This Home Renovation in Red Deer Made the Shortlist

Making a BILD Central Alberta finalist list is genuinely competitive. BILD Central Alberta's awards program regularly draws well over a hundred entries each year across residential construction, renovation, design, trades, and service categories, evaluated by dozens of independent judges from across Canada. Local coverage of the gala regularly notes attendance in the hundreds, underscoring just how much of the region's residential construction industry turns out for the event. Being shortlisted among that field, in any category, means a panel of outside judges looked at The Serenity next to dozens of other renovations and agreed it belonged near the top, and we could not be more thankful for the recognition.

Recognized Beyond the Build

The Serenity's BILD Central Alberta nod arrives alongside another honour for Ross Contracting. Our team has also been nominated for the 2026 Business of the Year Award through the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, a recognition that looks at the business as a whole rather than any single project. Between a finalist placement on one project and a nomination that considers the full scope of our work, it has been a meaningful stretch for the team, and one we're glad to share alongside The Serenity's story.
